The stenogramm of the interview with Sergey Rogogin to the
leader of "The concert by youth's letters" Vasiliy Kosolapov (
radio "Mayak") December, 1992. (V. Êîsolapov): Today we have a guest in our studio. It's Sergey Rogogin. I do not hear... Do you hear anything? And why nobody asking: who is Sergey Rogogin? Well, of course everybody guessed, it's the group "Forum". (S. Rogogin): I just think, it's because we can't hear the reaction, otherwise they certanly would have asked. - OK, Sergey, I would like to ask you only one question: you have brought a new song, and it seemed to me very original and a little bit strange as... I shall not quite tell, what song is that, I hope, you will tell us about it ... And some words about: how in general came an idea to write a song about it? - You do not kno, I am ..; You know, it is not the first time I see such reaction from people who have heard this song, and actually I'm also nervous now, because our listeners is an audience of several million and ... - They may take it in many ways ... - Yes, it can be taken in many ways, especially because this song is not typical for group "Forum" and for myself and because people got used to seeing me as a singer of love. I am really a singer of love: unhappy love, happy, cruel, when someone loved you back and when someone doesn't. But this song is ... I only don't anyone to see it as political song, because for me it is just like song about love. And I shal explain you, why. The name of the song is "Mister President". It can't be understood as song about love for the President directly ... OK. But in general, this song is about the human attitude about everything that surrounds us, about mutual relations people have with each other, and also the attitude people have towards the President. - It has something in common, in my opinion, with the song "The Wind of Changes" by "Scorpions", there is something in common for sure. - I Agree ... I agree with you, and many of those who listened to it have recognized it in general as American for some reason, although the song is absolutely Russian, I think. - But it's as far as the sound ... - Perhaps, by itself ... - I told you then ... - And you know, to me this song is not only the song about the President, it's a song of farewell to the Soviet Union in some ways, and to the Soviet Union not in the sense of Soviet, so to say, everything negative what's being assosiated with this word: communism and so on, but in the sense of union of many different countries and republics which used to be together; because of the way the situation is now, when the Soviet Union does not exist any more, for example, I am myself from Ukraine, and all my relatives are still in Ukraine, and now my mom lives overseas of a sudden. Do you understand? - Yes. - And many awkward situations have to do with it, and even sometimes to go visit is difficult, and other things, understand? Therefore for me this topic is very sensitive. And farewell to our first President, and farewell to the Soviet Union ... And now, you know, I am simply full of words of gratitude to all those people who have created this song. First of all, it's the authors of this song: Valery Sevastyanov wrote the music, nice lyrics were written by Alexey Remitsan, they are our St.-Petersburg songwriters, my fellow countrymen. Two choruses sing in this song, it's children's choir "Rainbow" under the direction of Marina Landa, and an adult choir - formed from all of those who happened to be with us during that moment - our actors, friends, employees of "Forum - Unistudio" ... - It's also, former of Leningrad, and now of St.-Petersburg ... - Yes, Petersburg, certanly ... you see ... even you cannot imagine: people who just happened to be in the studio at that time for different reasons - because of work ... many musicians come to us to record, when they heard that we are working on this song ... and we asked for their help because we needed to record using an adult choir, no one said "no", and you should have seen those people, with what inspiration and with what emotion people sang the lines: "On the steps of thawing years you leave, the first and forever last, mister President" ... Well ... - And once again I want ... to interrupt you a little bit (S. Rogogin: "Uh-huh") ... And the very last, very short question: are you planning to present this song to the President, just like "Scorpions" did? - We are going ... - To the Ex-president? - It (laughing): Yes, we are going to present it not only to the President, but also to all listeners ... Well I even do not know, how he will react to it. Perhaps, to some extent, from our end, it will be like making it bitter sweet, understand? - No, it is a very kind song, and for certain it is necessary to concern to it in a kind way. (the radio station then played the song "Mister President" - first time on "Mayak") | |
